Anger

We help with anger at Peace Lov Harmony Counseling, LLC.  Anger management therapy is used to help you with anger issues. Uncontrollable anger may lead to harmful psychological and physical conditions if untreated.  Anger management therapy can also lower your risk for serious health problems. These can include heart disease and high blood pressure.  It not only helps to reduce and control anger but it allows you to reduce stress.

The goal of anger management therapy is to teach you how to examine and address your triggers. It also helps adjust how you look at situations.  It is generally impossible to avoid all people and settings that may incite your anger.  However, you can learn to control your reactions and respond in a socially appropriate manner.  Successful anger management therapy develops healthy ways for you to express anger and frustration.

 

Some techniques used in anger management therapy include:

  • Impulse control
  • Self-awareness
  • Meditation
  • Frustration management (sometimes by writing in a journal)
  • Breathing techniques
  • Relaxation strategies

With a supportive, non-judging counselor, you will work on how to remain non-violent when angry, how to recognize warning signs of anger and stress, and how to resolve problems and communicate clearly and respectfully.
