Anxiety

We treat anxiety disorders at Peace Lov Harmony Counseling, LLC.  Anxiety is a normal reaction to anything that might be threatening to a person’s lifestyle, values, self, or loved ones.  Anxiety can be anything from a normal human feeling of occasional worry to an incapacitating state of nervous emotions.  Everyone experiences anxiety from time to time.  Some degree of anxiety can benefit us and even motivate us to prepare for upcoming tasks such as an exam, presentation, performance, or to ward off a threat. However, too much anxiety can cause significant discomfort and interfere with life’s daily functioning.

If you are experiencing anxiety, you may experience some of the following symptoms:

  • Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness
  • Excessive worry that is difficult to control
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle tension or aches
  • Irritability
  • Dizziness
  • Difficulty Sleeping (trouble falling asleep or staying asleep)
  • Fatigue
  • Pounding heart
  • Restlessness
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Inability to concentrate and/or make decisions
  • Heart palpitations

Anxiety does not present itself overnight, as many anxiety disorders begin in childhood and tend to persist if not treated. Therefore, be patient with yourself during treatment and celebrate small successes. Oftentimes, there might be an underlying cause of the anxiety that needs to be processed and explored such as trauma, adverse childhood experiences, or our true feelings about ourselves and others. Sometimes there is also no significant cause of our anxiety, it just happens.

Through my approach to anxiety counseling, I can help you reduce your symptoms, recognize contributing factors in your life, and learn coping skills to deal with your anxiety triggers.  Using a combination of evidence-based cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness skills, and relaxation techniques, I can help you feel better and live a more beautiful and fulfilling life.

I invite you to call or contact me if you have any questions or concerns with anxiety, and we’ll get started.  I look forward to helping you reconnect to your life and find peace, love, harmony and confidence!
